Snow and Mother Nature forced the cancellation of the Mid Winter Convention this year. We are looking forward to the District Award Banquet in June 2010.
The Christmas holidays are over, but the memories of a joyful season live on! We gathered together to celebrate Christmas at our annual Christmas party and donated canned goods to Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church's new food pantry.
Our second Adopt a Family for Christmas project was a wonderful success and we were able to adopt two families this year. Thanks to everyone who donated time and gifts and a special thanks to Lions Lee Ann & Audrey.
Our Brunswick stew sales have been truly successful! Many thanks to Lion Larry for making this fundraiser the best!! People are already asking about the November sale!!
Lion Leland arrived home safely from Guatemala and, along with other members of his congregation, worked on a church in the mountain region of the country.
Lion Kathy had eyeglass collection boxes that are being distributed throughout the community.
Plans are already starting to come together for the Antique Tractor Show and Fall Festival which is scheduled for 10/2/10. We already have committments from Greensboro Environmental Services, Republic Waste Management, Boys and Girls Home of North Carolina and several other organizations. Raffle donation letters are already in the mail to the companies who make their contribution lists during the first quarter of the year. We don't want to miss out on anything this year!
Our THIRD annual Pine Needle Sale will begin in March with Lion Don Brannock heading this committee. This announcement was placed in the local papers and put on the District website.
Perhaps our biggest news is the CELEBRATION of our Club's 50th ANNIVERSARY. Plans are being made for a banquet on August 19 at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. Other events and activities are in the works to celebrate this important year in the history of our club.
Lion Carol Moore has agreed to take the position of Historian for our Club and we are urging all members to help her as much as they can!
